Stay in silence

(aka individual retreats)

Please note: The accommodation listed below is exclusively for those seeking a personal retreat focused on calming down and silence. We do not provide accommodation for other purposes, such as tourism or business travel.

An individual silent stay at Fortna is ideal for those who wish to spend a few days in solitude, recharge their batteries, and spend time either with themselves or with God. This stay can take the form of personal spiritual exercises or a retreat, or simply a period to disconnect from your daily routine, regardless of your beliefs. While Fortna is not a remote monastery in the mountains, it is a beautiful place overlooking Prague, perfect for finding peace and calm.

When can I arrive to stay in silence?

Individual silent stays at Fortna are available when no other events are taking place. While weekends often host events, weekdays are generally more suited to accommodating your needs for a stay in silence.

How can I book a stay in silence?

Please email Karel Plechl at karel.plechl@fortna.eu, specifying your desired dates and the length of your stay. We will confirm availability as soon as possible. To ensure your preferred dates, we recommend booking at least one month ahead of your planned stay. Since we do not have a 24-hour reception, it is important to arrange your exact arrival time in advance.

Accommodation and meals

During your stay, you will have a private room and access to a shared kitchenette.

The facilities are modest yet thoughtfully designed for practicality and comfort. They include a comfortable bed, bed linens, towels, a wardrobe or coat stand, hangers, a table, and a chair. Most rooms also offer a beautiful view of Prague.

You will have your own room, but depending on current occupancy, you may need to share the bathroom and toilet with another person.

You will need to provide your own food for yourself. You can make use of a shared kitchenette, which is equipped with dishes, cookware, a stove, a microwave, and a kettle.

What is at your disposal at Fortna?

In addition to your room, you can access other areas at Fortna, including the corridors, courtyards, meditation room, various shared spaces, the church, and the chapel. You are welcome to use these areas as long as they are not in use for other activities.

  • You are welcome to join silent meditations on Tuesdays at 8 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., or attend Mass on Sundays at 9 a.m. For information on other Fortna programs, click here.
  • If you need a spiritual guidance/accompaniment or perhaps a talk with a priest during your stay, we recommend making arrangements in advance to ensure the availability of a priest or a professional guide.
